We are officially 25 and usually on milestone birthdays people ask you, “how does it feel to be 25?”  I have to say it is pretty awesome.  We feel Blessed that 25 years ago a few amazing ladies dedicated their lives to helping others and we are here a quarter of a century later still helping families facing unexpected pregnancies.

This is NOT an easy ministry.  We are called names by people who think that the only option for a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy is abortion and we are told we are old fashioned.  Dealing with the clients can be extremely emotionally draining.  But the staff and the volunteers at JMJ are amazing.  They understand that God does not make our lives easy, he makes them worthwhile, and we share that with our clients.  Our ministry has grown in the last 25 years although many things are still the same.  We still take the time to get to know our clients and listen to their story, when most people ignore them.  We help each family solve whatever issues they are facing that is holding them back from being excited about the birth of their child.

This week we are awaiting the delivery of a few clients that came to us in very dire situations.  One came to us after escaping an abusive husband.  She was a very high risk pregnancy due to a previous bout of cervical cancer, but could not use her husband’s insurance (because he would know where she is) and could not get Medicaid because her husband made too much money.  She felt very backed into a corner and alone, but by the grace of God she ended up at JMJ.  We have been helping her throughout her pregnancy and months later, she is happy and is scheduled to deliver tomorrow.

We also have another Mom that is a political refugee that was physically attacked because her husband “said the wrong thing about his government.”  She escaped the country with her young son and parents with only the clothes on their backs and was directed to JMJ.  Thankfully, the beating did not seem to affect the baby and her husband (who was beaten too much to escape at the time) is healing from his wounds and we pray that he will be well enough to come escape to the US to be here for the birth.  We have been helping connect her with the resources she needs and she is doing much better.  She is full term and we are awaiting news of how her, her son, the baby and Dad are all doing.

Please pray for our clients.  They are all going through very difficult times and they need prayers and support.  We have had well over 60,000 client visits since we opened our doors March 15, 1990 and there is no way to know how many lives we have saved.  But we know there have been thousands.  Each one is unique and beautiful and worth fighting for.

This sweet angel is alive today because JMJ was there to support his Mom through a very difficult time during her pregnancy.

This is a war we are fighting.  We are fighting for these lives against a culture that tells these women that they are not good enough to carry a baby.  They are hearing this negativity from everyone; parents, boyfriends, husbands, friends, doctors.  They want someone to stand up for them and support them.  Many of them don’t want to have an abortion, but they feel like they have no other option.  At JMJ, we are here to empower them, to tell them that they are good enough, they are strong enough, they are Moms and we will be there for them, no matter what.

Our greatest joy comes when a mother comes in with her bundle of love and tells us “this baby is here because of you.  Thank you so much from saving me from making the biggest mistake of my life.”  It takes a lot of work to save a life, but it is ALWAYS worth it.  Thank you for being part of our ministry and supporting these amazing families!
